I grew up at Montreal Lake (SK) First Nation, and in the nearby community of Timber Bay. There is a Bible camp located right there. Also, as a teen I went to SnowBlast winter youth retreats, and Higher Challenge summer canoe camps (all three are NCEM ministries based at Timber Bay). That's where I heard the salvation message. I heard it many times and I began thinking about it a lot. It slowly started making sense to me.

I realized that becoming a Christian was what I should do. So I prayed the prayer, but didn't really tell anyone. I had heard people tell how they felt changed when they accepted Christ. They told of an exciting feeling. But, for me, I didn't feel any different. So for awhile I thought nothing had happened.

While attending high school in Prince Albert, God kept working in me. He revealed sin in my life and things I needed to work on. That's when I woke up spiritually. My friend Alex Smith (2008 KBI grad) was living in Prince Albert. He showed me where to go to youth group and church. That's when I started to really live a Christian life.

Alex also told me several times about KBI. I had different plans for right after high school. But I realized that, since I was a Christian, I should learn more about being a better one. So I've completed my first year at Bible school, and I've learned a lot. There was some really big stuff that I didn't know. My view of God is a lot bigger. I think I've learned how to answer some of the tough questions that people might ask me about my faith. I've learned not just what God's Word says, but how to apply it.

During the school year I helped with Bible teaching at a nearby Reserve school. The kids were about 8 to 10 years old, and it made me think about when I attended elementary school. I didn't get to learn all those good things about God as a kid right in school.

Living in the dorm at KBI has been good. Us guys found that we're all different from each other, but we still had lots of laughs together. Also, I got involved in a music praise team. I've played the guitar since I was 13, but wasn't very confident. Now I've begun singing and playing in front of others. During the month of May our team toured through Alberta and Saskatchewan, letting people know about KBI as a Bible school for Native Christians to consider attending. Besides the songs, we gave our testimonies about how the Lord has changed our lives.
